It has cost a good deal of trouble, but there it is: the double DVD by Nevermore. After the band, after careful consideration, finally made up their mind that it was time to record a DVD and location and date were set (12th of September 2006, Zeche in Bochum, Germany), destiny struck. At the day of the recordings, when everyone and everything (among them a crew of twelve camera men) were flown in to Europe, Warrel Dane had to go to hospital in Dortmund to see a doctor. There the doctors ascertained that Warrel was suffering from a throat infection … and the show had to be cancelled. Due to the fact that Nevermore was to tour with Disturbed a possibility to record the DVD, right after the tour, was available. And so the whole circus established oneself in Bochum at the 11th of October 2006.

The result of this concert, in which the band was approximately two hours on, you will find on the first DVD of ‘The Year Of The Voyager’. Everyine who has had the pleasure of seeing this band live know that hey can translate the technical songs live perfectly and with this show it is not different. The band took songs from their whole oeuvre and played, not counting the intros, a total of nineteen songs. And of course there will be fans who, even though many classics are present, will discuss the completeness of the list and people will miss their personal favorites (‘Believe In Nothing’, ‘The Fault Of Flesh’, ‘We Disintegrate’, ‘The Psalm Of Lydia’) but that is unavoidable when you have to make a choice from such a huge list. The present tracks offer you a nice and impressive view and are performed nicely in the way you can expect from Nevermore.

The second DVD holds more live material. Several songs - a total of ten - as they were performed live at major festivals. ‘Born’ and ‘Enemies Of Reality’, played during Gigantour 2005, have previously been released on Gigantour 2005 DVD. The other footage comes from the Metal Mania Festival (Poland) and of Wacken (I do not have to tell where that is, I assume?), both from 2006. Especially the clips from Wacken, and than mainly the way the crowd goes wild during ‘Born’, are impressive. You will also find footage from the tenth anniversary of Century Media in the U.S. from 2001. Nextto it it holds the videos for eight songs and an interview of an ample seven minutes with Warrel. The interview is not only skinny when it comes to length; Warrel seem to be going through it as an obligatory moment and the montage of it is not that good as well (just notice the end of the interview). But that is nothing more than a tiny spot an a more than fantastic view of four hours of the oeuvre of evermore.

An obliged purchase for those who like technical, progressive (thrash) metal and actually for evryne who takes metal, even if was only a tiny bit, seroius!
